DAILY QUOTES

At the height of laughter, the universe is flung into a kaleidoscope of new possibilities.
~Jean Houston

I'm a pessimist because of intelligence, but an optimist because of will.
~Antonio Gramsci

Fall At Your Feet (Neil Finn)

I'm really close tonight
And I feel like I'm moving inside her
Lying in the dark
I think that I'm beginning to know her
Let it go
I'll be there when you call
Whenever I fall at your feet
And you let your tears rain down on me
Whenever I touch your slow turning pain

You're hiding from me now
There's something in the way that you're talking
The words don't sound right
But I hear them all moving inside you
Go, I'll be waiting when you call

Whenever I fall at your feet
And you let your tears rain down on me
Whenever I touch your slow turning pain

The finger of blame has turned upon itself
And I'm more than willing to offer myself
Do you want my presence or need my help
Who knows where that might lead

I fall at your feet
And you let your tears rain down on me
Whenever I fall

I have a new TV show addiction. I thought I'd never say this but I really like a CSI show. I say a CSI show because I feel it's the most superior of the 3 show franchise, and still dislike the other 2. The winner is...CSI Miami. Sure LT. Horatio Caine talks slow, methodically, and usually in snarky one line comments...And maybe Calleigh has a pixie way about her, and sing songy southern belle-like, flirts with everyone...but I likes it. Thanksgiving was pretty good. The weekend was filled with heartache of the football kind. The Steelers couldn't even muster a point against my most hated team, The Baltimore Ravens. To top it off JMU lost in a first round playoff game ending an otherwise great season for the Dukes. I'm already looking forward to next year. The Dukes are losing the best quarterback JMU possibly ever had in Justin Rascatti's, along with a bushel and a half of other senior players. But I'm excited to see what lightning quick QB Rodney Landers and even quicker TB Eugene Holloman! The last two movies I've watched were romantic comedies...hmmm...no this is not a sign of anything trust me. You, Me and Dupree, was better than expected, and The Breakup was only good because of the ending. I won't give it away but if you know me at all it's an ending I've always dreamed of in a movie. Saw Citizen Cope last Thursday, was a bit disappointed with the lack of showmanship, but all was redeemed in the encore when the opening act Alice Smith joined the band for a song or two. That girl has got some pipes baby! Check her CD out it's real good, Dream is a killer song. Sorry for the infrequency of blogging, off to bed at 930 to try and make up for the typical Sunday night insomnia. Peace babies. I LIKE YOU. DO YOU LIKE ME? VERY NICE.

What I Want

The Twist was a guided missile, launched from the ghetto into the very heart of suburbia. The Twist succeeded, as politics, religion, and law could never do, in writing in the heart and soul what the Supreme Court could only write on the books.
~Eldridge Cleaver

My Greatest Athletic Moments
(In No Particular Order)

1. Field of Dreams: This was the name we gave the field at the near by elementary school in college. One cold snowy day a football game was played. Steam rose off heads. And I; Threw 1 TD, Caught 1 TD, Ran 1 TD, got 1 INT and 1 Sack. It was a good day.

2. Possibly my first and only basket in Reston Youth Basketball League. I started for my best friends team, but my basic job was to receive the pass from him out of bounds, immediately give it back to him, then set a pick for him. He was no doubt a great player, but his dad was also the coach. There came a time when our team disbanded. In our game verse his new team he was marked up on me. And to this day the only basket I ever remember making was the one right in his face!

3. Godwin Field Tackle Football. We had a great little game of tackle goin on my sophomore year of school. As planned I blocked for 2 seconds then went into the flat. Everyone else was covered I guess, because the ball was thrown my way. I received it and headed straight at James. I tried to out a juke on him and spun left as he grabbed a hold of my favorite Clyde Drexler caricature T-shirt. As I spun my shirt ripped and unraveled up to my nipples leaving me free to run for a TD!

4. MBA. Midnight Basketball Association. We all worked at restaurants, and during the summer we could all get out around 11-12, because Harrisonburg was dead when school was out. After 6 games our teams were tied 3-3. I've mentioned this before at this night was no exception, but I was usually the last person picked, but also usually put up half my team's points. Game 7 was no exception, it came down to a 7-9 score (we played to 11 and behind the arc was 2 points.) Greg passed me the ball and set a pic/screen for me reminiscent of Chris Webber for Mike Bibby. I rose up blindly, because Greg was much taller than I and let the shot go. With the flick of my wrist I sealed the game shwacking a deep sauce 2 pointer for the win!

I saw Fast Food Nation on Tuesday night, fo free. It was very good, but not great. It tried to cover too much ground, but the points it did make it made well, I just thought it lost focus. The acting was superb, and the cast lacked, basically no one, it was one big cameo. Tonight I made Steak, cheesy potatoes and corn for myself and a couple of friends. Followed by Boggle! (Boggle Blog soon to come. Blog+Boggle=Bloggle) Not to shabby. happy to report I found somehting to do with my downtime at work. I worte one page, the intro to a possible idea for a novel. it was good just to get it out because this concept had been lingering far too long in my brain. my sweet, beautiful, complicated brain. Exhausted is the word of the month.

We went a man down this weekend. Yvonne and Benjie got married. But as was repeated many time in various speeches, the "posse" didn't lose a member but gained one. It honestly feels that way. I didn't lose a friend to marriage, I'm kinda sick of this smart-ass bachelor notion. Yvonne feels just as much a part of the "posse" as any one of the original members. I feel a sort opf obligation to protect her as my own, like a sister. In another conversation at the wedding about firnds getting married, and having babies, I said, "We're expecting this March!" But I didn't mean myself, I have not got anyone pregnant to my knowledge ever. What I meant was the group of college friends I still remain close with. I honestly feel like one big family and know that baby will be welcome in all of our arms as if he/she is our own child.

Of course my own want and need were on my mind during the wedding, but they were easy to quell seeing two true friends pledge to spend the rest of their live together. There is someone I would like to see more of and more often, and I wish she was with me at the wedding. Those that know know you don't have to dig very deep in the layers to know I am a true romantic. and for the romantic a wedding is the Super Bowl.

Lately at the end of my blogs there was a feature called Benjie's Hottie Corner. This feature is now defunct, kaput, gone, done, because Benjie has his very own hottie for the rest of his life.

The Tree of Life...Of My Life

DAILY QUOTES

When you're in the muck you can only see muck. If you somehow manage to float above it, you still see the muck but you see it from a different perspective. And you see other things too. That's the consolation of philosophy.
~David Cronenberg

IN A STATION OF THE METRO
The apparition of these faces in the crowd;
Petals on a wet, black bough.

~Ezra Pound
SOME KNOWLEDGE: The yin/yang symbol also demonstrates as noted previously that within each there is a bit of the other. Because duality and polarity are universally exhibited in all of creation, parallels can be seen between differing cultural and religious traditions. For example, parallels can be seen between the Chinese Taoist tradition and the Jewish/Hebrew Kabbalistic tradition. As the Yin and Yang are complementary principles, displaying opposition, similarly the Tree of Life of the Kabballah exhibits the opposite yet complementary pillars of receptivity, which is Feminine energy similar to yin, and of aggressive/expansiveness, which is Masculine energy like yang. Both traditions seek unification and balance through universal truth. The Tree of Life is a physical representation of the creative structure and nature of the universe, and the source of life and a foundation for the mind of man. Tree of Life
The most prominent form of the Tree of Life was devised by Rabbi Issac Luria in sixteen-century Palestine. It serves as a practical application of mystical knowledge in the service of Divine will, and is a description of the structure and nature of the universe and a path to righteousness. The Tree of Life is composed of the ten sefirot, which are spheres of divine attributes. The attributes are listed as follows:

1. KETER Crown & Emanation of Divine light and will

2. CHOKHMAH Wisdom

3. BINAH Understanding

4. CHESED Mercy

5. GEVURAH Judgement or Power

6. TIFERET Beauty

7. NETZACH Endurance

8. HOD Glory

9. YESOD Foundation

10. MALKHUT Kingdom

The Tree of Life...Of My Life

Does anyone remeber the "Even Steven" episode of Seinfeld? I'm not saying this me, but I do notice a balance in my life and the world around me, even when times are the toughest or at their best. My world includes my friends, and there is balance among them as well. Some are up and at hiogh points in their lives, while others are static and things are on an even keel, while some are going through some lows right now. I try to keep this in mind to ensure I have many perspectives on life, to keep humble, and to keep myself optimistic. Within in my own life some things are great, others are still in question while others leave a lot to be desired.
